Well I plan on getting a cheap ruger 22 from my local gun store, obviously I have to fill out the form they give me and have them call in for a background check, but I also plan on changing alot of the accessories.. I want to change the stock to an m4 style stock, or whatever looks cooler to me, get a few 20-50 round banana clips, depending on what I can find, add a front verticle grip, maybe a bipod, and of course top it off with either a scope or some sort of red/green dot sight.
My question is really, to modify a gun or do anything that I would like to do, do I have to fill out any more forms or anything at all to make it completely legal. Is there anything like the process of getting a silencer, where there is a waiting period and a 200$ tax stamp or something of that sort.
I live in New York (not in NYC, or any other city for that matter)

Ever since my brother came back from the military he felt the need to build an arsenal of weapons. We have allowed him to live in our home, but he is unstable, and has made threats to us and other establishments. He's a sadist and brags about killing innocent people in Iraq. He said that he and members of his company would sometimes pick up AK47s drop them next to killed inncocent civilians so as to make a murder look like self defense. Since being here, he has made threats with weapons to everyone in the household, animals, and when things don't go his way, threaten to go on a shooting. When he was failing college because of his failure to communicate to professors, he had said "What that Cho guy did is nothing, I'm going to shoot up the whole *effing* school! And unlike him I got the firepower to do so!" He's a self righteous hate mongerer and feels justified in his opinion. He says he bought the guns as a hobby, then as home defense, but now he wants a silencer for his .22 rifle so no one could hear him fire it. He also wants to spray paint the tip of his pistols orange and walk around in public with it like a toy. It's not to say I was never understanding, I wanted him to seek treatment with veteran affairs but everyone around me felt it was better to let things pass.This past week one of the dogs got loose, and he got angry and started beating the dog. I could hear the dog's cries and every hit from the next room over. I got tired of his bull so I knocked him down, in which he then got apprehensive. He wanted to fight but my dad split us up. I had enough and I was going to call the cops, and he then got scared, ripped out the phone line because he was afraid they were going to take his guns. I've had enough, his psycho behavior is just getting out of hand. He's leaving for Iraq in October for reasons less than honorable. He wants more money and he wasn't satisfied that he didn't get enough action the last time, and by that I mean kill. He hates muslims and brags how we would like to a bullet in every one of their heads. I don't know if I can wait till October, he's putting alot of stress on the family. What could I do?

I own a .22 Weihrauch HW 57 air rifle which I use for hunting rats - This is because of the caravan site my parents own - Nobody would want to visit a caravan site plagued with rats, after all. I've been looking for a good, durable and accurate .22 pistol. I'm not too experienced in firearms, so I would want to know if anyone could recommend a good .22 that could fit a silencer on, and is already threaded. I've been looking at a Walther P22, but I'm not completely sure, I've read some reviews, and some have had durability and accuracy issues, I just want to know if these are serious issues :D

(CNN) -- A Nevada man who reportedly poisoned himself with ricin in his Las Vegas motel room pleaded guilty Monday to possession of a biological toxin, prosecutors said.

Roger Bergendorff, 57, who was hospitalized for two months with suspected ricin poisoning, also pleaded guilty to possession of unregistered firearms.
Ricin is a toxic byproduct of processing castor beans for oil and is capable of killing body cells.
"Used improperly, ricin can be a very dangerous and deadly weapon," said U.S. Attorney Greg Brower in Nevada. "Fortunately, in this case, the ricin is not believed to have caused any harm to the public."
Bergendorff, who was living at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, knowingly possessed ricin in February for an "unjustified purpose," according to court documents.
At the time, Bergendorff also possessed a .22 caliber pistol with an unregistered silencer attached, as well as a second unregistered silencer. Neither of the silencers were registered to Bergendorff, authorities said.
Bergendorff was hospitalized on February 14 complaining of breathing difficulties. Two weeks later, his cousin, Thomas Tholen, 54, of Riverton, Utah, discovered the toxin when he went to recover Bergendorff's belongings from his hotel room.
Authorities also said a search of the room found guns, the book "Anarchist's Cookbook," a collection of instructions on poisons and other dangerous recipes and castor beans, syringes and beakers.
Bergendorff previously lived in Tholen's home. After the discovery of the ricin, the FBI searched the home as well as storage units Bergendorff used in Utah. Authorities said FBI agents searching the storage units found castor beans, chemicals used in the production of ricin, a respirator, filters, laboratory glassware, syringes and a notebook on ricin production.
Tholen has pleaded not guilty to charges he knew his cousin was producing ricin and failed to report it to federal authorities.
Bergendorff is scheduled to be sentenced November 3. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 on each count.
Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 37 months in prison.
